Roger Pilc,   CEO Whale Communications

Prior to joining Whale, Roger Pilc served for four years as Chief Operating Officer of software company SMARTS, where he was responsible for all the functions of the company. Under Mr. Pilc's leadership, SMARTS enjoyed almost five-fold revenue growth, had three years of consistent profitability, and was recently acquired by storage giant EMC for nearly $300 million. Prior to SMARTS, Mr. Pilc served as senior Vice President and General Manager of Winstar’s e-Business Solutions Division. At Winstar he built and managed Internet services, hosting, ASP and professional services businesses and created strategic and investment relationships with Microsoft, Oracle and Compaq. Prior to Winstar, he served as a management consultant with McKinsey & Company and Booz-Allen & Hamilton in New York City and London. Mr. Pilc also worked as an executive with MCI Communications as well as for Softbank Corporation in Japan. He holds a BS in Engineering and a BA in Arts and Sciences from Cornell University; an MS in Engineering from Stanford University; and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
